Schuljahr 2013/2014 - St. Anthony's High School, New York

hico lennybericht01Hey everybody,

The more I get to the point of leaving the states the more I realize how awesome my year actually was (I do not want to leave). Honestly I don't know where to start. A small chapter of hopefully many in my life is over soon and I just want to use this opportunity to write down as much as I can. My huge journey to the country of the unlimited possibilities started when my parents dropped me off at the Airport in Frankfurt on August 31st 2013. This was the last time I saw my parents.

Right after the gates behind me closed, I waved the last time back. I was just scared as hell when I was suddenly alone and did not know what was expecting me on the other side. Fortunately I had great people around who made it easy for me to integrate in the American society. Since I am here I enjoy every single day of being here - in total 309 days. The time in the states helped me to grow as an individual in the academically- as well as in the spiritual way.

hico lennybericht02Thank you to my host family, the SA brothers, the SA faculty, my classmates, the Oyster Bay people, the ILC, HiCo and generally everybody who was involved in making my year the best year I ever had in my short but action-full life. Thank you for accepting me so well, making me feel that comfortable, having all the great conversations and just giving me the help/support during the times where I needed it the most. Soon I go through the same. The gates will close behind me, I will just wave back for the last time and leave the US behind. I have just been a SA classmate for one year but I will be a FRIAR forever. "We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere. I've learned that true friendship continues to grow...even over the longest distances” (statement of a good friend of mine).

Guys I am going to miss all of you a lot and assume that you don't have to wait long until you see me again. America is and will always be my home.

Everyone who considers spending one year abroad should do it - you definitely won't regret it and might have the best year of your life. Good luck and success!
